Performance Tiers

High Performance Tier

The High Performance (TASS) tier is specifically designed to support students who are aiming for a professional sporting career alongside a dual-career education. Students who currently compete at a National or International level in their respective sport will qualify for this tier of provision (Academy-signed footballers included).

As a school, we fully understand the demands of high level competition and aim to support those individuals so that they don’t have to sacrifice their education in order to succeed in their chosen sporting field. We acknowledge the pressure of managing the demands of an elite training regime and have put the following provisions in place to support students learning and training equally.

As a High Performance (TASS) Student you will gain the following provision:

  • Dual Career Mentoring – Each student will be assigned a personal tutor for extra support and guidance along with Sport Scholarships advice.
  • Scientific Anthropometric testing & Maturation Screening – TASS trips with Universities to gain state-of-the-art testing in scientific labs.
  • Discounted Physiotherapy – Initial diagnosis of injuries to be covered by LeAF if required. Subsequent treatment sessions 10% discounts applied. Personalised rehabilitation programmes shared with LeAF Strength & Conditioning [S&C] staff to support with recovery to full fitness.
  • Smaller group & 1-1 coaching/S&C – extra sessions for S&C can be arranged if required.
  • Sports Psychology support – Sessions with Sport Psychologists as groups throughout the year. Individual sessions can be arranged if required.
  • Use of facilities at Lunchtimes – Students will carry out induction and have permission to access MSC Sports Hall and Fitness Suite facilities, if available, at request.

Performance Tier

The Performance tier is designed to support students who are aiming for a Semi-Professional sporting career alongside another profession. Students who currently compete at a Regional, County or District level in their respective sport will qualify for this tier of provision.

As a Performance Tier Student you will gain the following provision:

  • General Anthropometric testing & Maturation Screening – trips to local Universities to further knowledge of training and testing in state of the art labs.
  • Discounted Physiotherapy – treatment sessions 10% discounts applied. Personalised rehabilitation programmes shared with LeAF S&C staff to support with recovery to full fitness.
  • Sport Specific S&C as Performance Group as a whole.
  • Sports Psychology seminars – sessions with professional Sport Psychologists as groups throughout the year.
  • Nutritional guidance from LeAF studio staff.

Our aim is to support as many of the students in the Performance tier with their sports performances so as they can push into National level competition. If students are successful with this, they will then be promoted to the High Performance Tier.

Development Tier

The Development tier is to support students who partake in sport and play at a local or developmental level. The focus of training is not specifically on sports performance, but a generic improvement of a student’s physical, social and psychological performance.

As a Development Tier Student you will gain the following provision:

  • Basic Anthropometric testing & Maturation Screening – trips to local Universities to further knowledge of training and testing in state of the art labs.
  • Discounted Physiotherapy – treatment sessions 10% discounts applied. Personalised rehabilitation programmes shared with LeAF S&C staff to support with recovery to full fitness.
  • Generic S&C as Development Group as a whole.
  • Nutritional guidance from LeAF studio staff.

As a school, we will regularly invite National Governing Bodies of various sports to visit the school and run Talent Identification sessions. If a student is identified as possessing a natural talent for a particular sport, then they will then be invited to training sessions with that National Governing Body for further tests and training.

Enrichment Tier

The Enrichment Tier is in place to support the students at LeAF who may not partake in competitive sport or fail to meet the attitude to learning expectations of the Sport specialism.

As an Enrichment Tier Student you will gain the following provision:

  • A Generic Physical Education curriculum (Core PE).
  • Varied Sports Curriculum focussed on developing problem solving, leadership and communication skills.
  • Nutritional guidance from S&C staff.
